A programmer from Dnipro decided to go abroad, but he had no legal grounds. So he came up with a scheme: in one of the city’s bars, he bought a child’s birth certificate form, filled it out, and became a «father of many children». But the plan failed — border guards in Bukovyna immediately noticed the fake and sent the man to court.
How did it go?
According to the case file, last March, the IT specialist decided to go abroad with his family. On March 7, he tried to cross the border in the village of Terebleche in Bukovyna. The programmer showed the border guards a birth certificate for his third child, which gave him the right to leave during martial law. But the document turned out to be a fake, he was exposed, and the case went to court.
In court, the man pleaded guilty and told how he did it. He explained that he had two minor children, and the third child «was his own. The programmer said he bought a blue birth certificate from a stranger in a bar in Dnipro. He does not remember the exact date of purchase. Then, at a computer club, the IT guy used Photoshop to add data to the child’s birth certificate. He printed the final «document» on a color printer.
Hlyboka District Court of Chernivtsi Region found the programmer guilty of forgery and imposed a fine of — UAH 17,000. In addition, he has to pay UAH 1514.56 in procedural costs.
If the man disagrees with the verdict, he can appeal to the Chernivtsi Court of Appeal within 30 days.
