Gigabyte has created its Brix Extreme mini-PC, equipped with an AMD Hawk Point APU. Although this is a previous generation processor, it is powerful enough to perform most tasks, and the compact body offers many connection options.
The Gigabyte Brix Extreme boasts a 28W Ryzen 7 8840U PRO APU, which has 8 Zen 4 cores and supports 16 threads. Performance should be comparable to Intel Core Ultra 256V Lunar Lake. The APU is paired with up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory. Two M.2 2280 slots satisfy storage needs, both of which are available to the user.
Despite its compact size, the system includes an Ethernet 2.5G port, two HDMI 2.1 ports, mini DisplayPort, USB4 with DP, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 port in Type-C.
There is currently no information on the price and availability of this mini-PC, but more information should be available soon. Considering the proposed specifications, the Gigabyte Brix Extreme should be relatively affordable.
