Google is working on a new email security system that will allow you to create one-time email addresses or pseudonyms — they can be shared with other users, programs, or sites, and received emails will be forwarded to the main one, thus protecting its privacy.
The potential new feature was discovered by the authors of Android Authority in the code of the latest release of Google Play Services 24.45.33. (and later in the autocomplete settings menu), marked with the name «Protected email».
The main advantage of this update is that sites or other services will not spam you in your inbox, while your email address will receive additional protection to avoid getting caught in one of the leaks.
It’s unclear when Google will start testing the feature and whether it will eventually be rolled out to the masses, but the idea seems good.
