Google will mark «low-quality apps» in the Play Store: what are the criteria?

It seems like Google is working on a new feature that will warn users about potentially low-quality apps in the Play Store.

Researchers at Android Authority discovered a tool in the Play Store code version 43.7.19-31.

What are the criteria Google will use to mark an app?

  • Frequency of deletions compared to other apps
  • Limited data provided by the developer
  • Small number of users

Warnings are likely to be displayed directly on the app’s information page in the Play Store, rather than appearing before downloading. Theoretically, this conservative approach makes sense, as the above criteria do not necessarily indicate that the app is of low quality (especially the last two).

Moreover, some high-quality apps are downloaded for a specific one-time purpose and may be deleted later.
