Warhorse Studios has released patch 1.2.4 for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 — hardcore mode and a new hairstyle for Henry. And other fixes.
The main news is a full-fledged hardcore mode that dramatically complicates the game, as promised earlier. Fans of the first part remember what a bad dream is because of the protagonist’s nightmares and the lack of markers on the map. Now fans of the second part can experience it as well.
What is Hardcore Mode
This mode is for those who find the normal difficulty difficult to be too much fun. The new mode includes:
- The interface disappears in and out of combat — no health, stamina, or attack direction indicators;
- Fast travel and auto-saves are disabled;
- There are no markers on the map — you will have to navigate from memory or ask an NPC for directions.
- At the start, you need to choose three negative perks that affect the passage.
Your reputation and appearance will play an even bigger role. If Henry smells bad and is a known thief or bully, travelers may tell him the wrong way. Then you will have to look for not only the required location, but also the way to the place where you were deceived. By the way, if Henry has a negative perk «Shy», then the map will not show the temporary marking given to you by the traveler.
If Henry was already getting punched in the head like a normal character, not some chosen dragon fighter, he’ll be getting even more. Even without negative bonuses, the battle will be different because the developers have adjusted the enemy AI settings. In the base game, when more enemies are fighting you, they give you a little more space and attack you one by one. In hardcore, they will flank you and attack you more, so it will be harder to fight a bunch of peasants or robbers.
Not only will Henry suffer more, but he will also become bald
The second notable item in the patch is a new hairstyle. Now you can shave Henry’s head completely in the barbershop. This is a separate customization option that fans have been asking for since the release. Previously, the developers added hairdressers in Zheleiov and Kuttenberg that can change the hair on the character’s head and face. At the same time, the game received support for mods back then.
What else is in patch 1.2.4
The update also contains a number of minor fixes and technical improvements:
- Fixed shadows that flickered in certain weather conditions;
- Revised prices for herbs — now stores do not sell them for more than the purchase price;
- Fixed bugs with dice, broken items, and perks that didn’t work after the update;
- Fixed crashes on Xbox related to season passes and saves;
- Fixed a few quests where NPCs were freezing or the victory was not displayed;
- General improvement of stability and compatibility with mods.
