Honda 0 Saloon and 0 SUV: electric cars with a futuristic design and a range of up to 483 km

Honda presented prototypes of its future 0-series electric vehicles at CES 2025. The public was shown the 0 Saloon sedan and the 0 SUV crossover. Honda claims that with these cars it aims to push the boundaries of design and technology.

The 0 Saloon, an improved version of the 2024 Saloon concept, still has the same futuristic, aerodynamic design, low profile, retractable headlights and distinctive taillights. The Honda 0 SUV shares some design cues with the sedan, but fortunately offers a more practical and spacious option for those who need extra cargo space. Both cars have a minimalist interior dominated by digital displays and a steering wheel-shaped steering wheel.

The 0-Series electric vehicles are expected to offer rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. These cars are likely to be powered by Honda’s latest electric motors, ranging from 67 to 241 horsepower. The thin lithium-ion battery pack is expected to provide an EPA-standard range of about 483 km.

The electric vehicles will be equipped with a steer-by-wire system that eliminates the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels to improve response and efficiency. Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities, provided by Honda’s Helm.ai software and artificial intelligence, will allow drivers to take their eyes off the road under certain conditions.

The 0-series will debut Honda’s next-generation automotive operating system, ASIMO OS. This in-house developed system integrates driver assistance, infotainment and «over-the-air» updates. ASIMO OS and Level 3 autonomous driving system will be powered by a high-performance SoC developed in partnership with Renesas.

0-Series electric vehicles will be equipped with a NACS charging port in North America. Honda is introducing smart home charging features that allow cars to automatically charge during off-peak hours or when renewable energy sources are available. In addition to accessing the Tesla Supercharger network, Honda is part of IONNA, a joint venture with seven other automakers that aims to create 30,000 charging stations by 2030.

Honda 0-series electric cars will go on sale in 2026. Their approximate prices have not yet been announced.
