All fans of «Star Wars» know the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker — we saw how events unfolded, the turning points on his path that pushed him to the dark side. And now, thanks to a new digital toy from Bandai, fans will be able to join the formation of Darth Vader themselves.
In honor of Lucasfilm’s new Power the Force campaign, the company is presenting a first look at the new «Star Wars» version of Tamagotchi. In addition to the previously released devices with R2-D2 and Grog, a version with Darth Vader himself is now available. Starting with Anakin, it’s up to you, as the caretaker of this little sprite Jedi, to see how you can influence his transformation into Darth Vader. You can feed him, train him with lightsaber exercises or duels, or arrange for him to meet a number of characters from the movies to ultimately shape the one who will fall into darkness. Depending on the user’s actions, the virtual Anakin can turn into one of 10 potential Vaders.

In addition to raising your own little Sith, Tamagotchi Vader also recreates sprite versions of 12 iconic scenes from the «Star Wars» movies and comes with five mini-games to pass the time: in addition to the aforementioned lightsaber training, there’s a «Star Wars» letter search, a variation on the infamous Death Star trench run, and battles with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke himself. As if that weren’t enough, the Vader-themed Tamagotchi even comes with a special silicone storage case made in the shape of a Vader mask. A tiny Vader inside which is an even smaller, egg-shaped Vader inside which is an even smaller Vader!
Tamagotchi Darth Vader by Bandai will cost $30. The toy is due out this March, and you can already pre-order it on Amazon.
