During CES 2025, Intel announced new Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processors. They are aimed at the mobile segment, as well as at creators and enthusiasts. These chips offer «advanced artificial intelligence improvements, increased efficiency and performance». This is reported by the resource Videocardz with reference to Intel’s press release.
For game creators and enthusiasts, Intel is introducing the Core Ultra 200HX and H series mobile processors. Along with high performance, we are also promised «significant power reduction» and «powerful AI acceleration». These chips can have up to 24 cores for the HX series: 8 productive cores (P-core) and 16 efficient cores (E-core). For the H series, there are up to 16 cores: 6 P-cores, 8 E-cores, and 2 low-power E-cores. Intel promises up to 41% better multi-threaded performance for the Intel Core Ultra 200HX series compared to the previous generation HX series processors.
The Intel Core Ultra 200H series features an Intel Arc GPU with 8 Intel Xe cores with Intel Xe Matrix Extensions (XMX) for AI acceleration, delivering up to 22% better gaming performance than its predecessors. Across the platform, these processors deliver up to 99 TOPS performance across GPU, CPU, and NPU. The Intel Core Ultra 200HX series processors feature up to 48 PCIe lanes (including PCIe 4.0 and 5.0) for connecting discrete GPUs and storage.
Packaging improvements have resulted in a 33% reduction in overall processor chassis size, enabling thin and lightweight designs without sacrificing performance. Selected Intel Core Ultra 200HX SKUs will offer overclocking options for further customization.
In addition, Intel is launching the energy-efficient Intel Core Ultra 200U series of mobile processors, which feature up to 2 P-core and 8 E-core, Intel Xe LPG GPUs and a total performance of up to 24 platform TOPS.
Intel is also expanding its Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processor series with 12 new 65W and 35W offerings. They have up to 8 P-core and 16 E-core.
Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) platforms include the following features and capabilities:

- Shares screens, keyboard, mouse, memory, and files with two PCs via Thunderbolt

The company claims that the new Intel Core Ultra 9 processors demonstrate performance improvements in AI workloads compared to the previous generation. Comparing Intel Core Ultra 9 285H to 185H, performance is 2.2 times faster in Procyon AI computer vision, 3.3 times faster in Llama 3 8B, and up to 2.3 times faster in Stable Diffusion 1.510.
