On April 15, the cryptocurrency market faced a large-scale outage of several leading exchanges, including Binance, MEXC, Bitget, and KuCoin. The reason for this was problems in the operation of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center, as these platforms depend on the AWS infrastructure.
Users around the world are complaining about problems accessing their accounts, including being unable to receive login or withdrawal codes.
Binance responded quickly to the situation and announced temporary suspension of withdrawals to protect users’ assets.
«We are aware of an issue affecting some services on the Binance platform due to a temporary network outage at the AWS data center. Some transactions are still successful, but some are failing,” the message reads.
Later, Binance reported that services were beginning to be restored and withdrawals were reopened, although some delays were still possible until the system was fully stabilized.
Other exchanges, including KuCoin, also confirmed problems with transactions.
However, users of Bitget, MEXC, and other platforms continue to report problems. That is, the Amazon Web Services data center has not yet been fully restored.
Bitget CEO Gracie Chen said:
«The AWS data center issues that have affected several centralized exchanges are a reminder that it may be time to explore decentralized cloud services».
For now, users are advised to stay calm and follow official updates from exchanges and AWS. However, it is not yet known what the problems with Amazon’s cloud services are related to.
