Large-scale Halo data leak: from first concepts to unpublished content

Development tools, unpublished materials, and test versions of the legendary game were leaked online.

90 gigabytes of secret materials on the history of the Halo series development have been leaked to the public. The leak covers the period from 1998, when the studio Bungie after the release of Myth II: Soulblighter, she worked on Oni and Halo: Combat Evolved.

The archive contains development builds, internal documentation, and Halo creation tools. The files include folders with assemblies for 3ds Max, Maya, and shaders, as well as the first beta versions of Halo 1. Of particular value is the build from E3 2000, which was used to create a trailer for the original Xbox version of the game, although it is incompatible with the console.

In 2024, 343 Industries changed its name to Halo Studios and continues to develop new parts of the franchise on the Unreal Engine 5.
