Mobile operator lifecell will revise its tariffs and increase their cost in February. This was stated by Mykhailo Shelemba, CEO of DVL («Datagroup», «Volia», and lifecell), in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
«Unfortunately, there will be a forced price change for existing subscribers. It will take place in February,» said Mikhail Shelemba.
He noted that the main reason for the tariff increase was the rise in electricity prices. This affected all operators. Mykhailo Shelemba said that the cost of electricity had almost doubled over the past year. For 2025, the company plans to spend «UAH 2.3 billion on this».
However, despite the almost twofold rise in electricity prices, lifecell will not increase tariffs proportionally.
«Thanks to cost optimization, we will do this at half the rate required by economic conditions. The last price increase for existing subscribers was almost a year and a half ago, and it was not for everyone, but only for 15% of the base,» said DVL CEO.
It is also noted that the price revision will not affect new customers who have transferred their number to lifecell since December. They had the opportunity to fix the tariff until the end of the year.
As a reminder, in December 2024 «Kyivstar» reported about plans to increase tariffs by an average of 25%. «Vodafone Ukraine» also said about increasing subscription rates by about 37%.
