The premiere of the movie «Captain America: A Brave New World» is scheduled for February 2025, but according to insiders, there is now «another round of reshoots» — in fact, it seems that Marvel has even fired the main director.
Julius Ona was remembered for the highly acclaimed drama «Luce» (91% on Rotten Tomatoes) and was chosen to direct the new «Captain America», but it seems that he did not work out with Marvel and was replaced, writes insider Jordan Rumi from World of Reel.
«It was too hard for him», — says one of Rumi’s interlocutors close to the film’s production.
Perhaps all of this is just a rumor, but Ona did not appear at either D23 or D23 Brazil during the presentation of «Captain America», which further fuels them.
Meanwhile, the movie itself is currently is in the midst of reshoots (at least this was confirmed by Giancarlo Esposito, who hinted at additional scenes for the film) — regular, as the first series of reshoots already took place in early 2024 (at least three major action scenes were discussed, as well as the hiring of a new screenwriter who was to write «additional material» with new characters).
Both preliminary test screenings of the new «Captain America» allegedly did not cause enthusiasm, as the first reactions described the film as «insignificant» and «flat». According to rumors, the film’s budget is already approaching the $400 (!) million mark (for comparison, «Joker 2» and «Deadpool and Wolverine» cost $200 million each).
