Reburn Studio, which was involved in the creation of Metro, has officially announced the release date of its first-person shooter — La Quimera.
La Quimera is not just another indie shooter, but a new original project created by Metro veterans. The game takes place in Nuevo Caracas, a fictional city of the future that combines a sci-fi atmosphere with Latin American mysticism. The protagonist is a fighter for a private military company who gets stuck in a showdown between hostile groups, corporations, and something much stranger. The story for the game, by the way, was created by writer E.J.A. Warren and director Nicholas Winding Refn — the same one who made «Drive» and «Neon Demon».
Along with the announcement of the release and closed beta, the creators showed the gameplay. The trailer has a Crysis spirit, especially because of the noticeable emphasis on exosuits. Although the characters don’t speak like in the classic Crytek game, they can electrocute, scan for threats, and perform quick maneuvers — all necessary for battles with robots and armed opponents.

It will be possible to play both solo and in a cooperative for three. Players will be able to explore both the city and the jungle around it. In general, the map promises to be diverse.
Before the release, Reburn will hold a closed beta. It will last for 24 hours on April 12, starting at 17:00 Kyiv time (07:00 Pacific time). The beta will include an important mission from the middle of the game, available in both solo and co-op. You can get into the beta through the La Quimera page on Steam, but the number of places is limited.
«In the run-up to release, we invite players to join us in our closed beta to get an early experience of working together for our vision of New Caracas and beyond», — the creators say.
La Quimera’s release comes amidst the team’s confusing background. Recently, it was said that the creators of Metro 4A Games Ukraine has allegedly renamed itself Reburn and started developing La Quimera but then denied it. Later it turned out that after the release of Metro Exodus, another studio was created under the leadership of 4A Games Limited, which was renamed Reburn. In the meantime 4A Games Ukraine announced the development of a new Metro.
It is now known which team members decided to work on La Quimera. Among them — Oleksandr Kostiuk, who was once responsible for design and AI at 4A Games and is now leading the entire project. Reburn CEO Dmytro Lymar also used to work as a CEO at 4A Games Ukraine.
After all the confusion, we know when to expect the game — very soon. La Quimera has received a release date of April 25. The game will cost $29.99, and in the meantime, you can add it to your wishlist on Steam.
