Nvidia announces monthly limits for GeForce Now, additional hours will be charged

Nvidia is changing the rules of the game.

GeForce NOW — is a cloud-based service from Nvidia that allows you to run modern video games even on weak computers. Instead of installing games on their own devices, users stream them from the company’s powerful servers, accessing their library on Steam, Epic Games, and other platforms.

Starting from the beginning of next year, users of the service will be able to play no more than 100 hours per month, regardless of the chosen tariff plan, reports Nvidia wrote on its blog. Currently, Performance and Ultimate subscribers pay $9.99 and $19.99 per month, respectively.

Performance subscribers will be able to play in 1440p resolution and use ultra-wide monitors — features previously available only to Ultimate subscribers.

Ultimate subscribers will also get a long-awaited feature: the ability to save graphics settings between game sessions. This plan still supports 4K resolution at 120 frames per second.

However, Nvidia assures that not everyone should worry — this limit fully covers the needs of 94% of players. For avid gamers, a nice bonus has been provided: up to 15 unused hours will be automatically transferred to the next month of active subscription.

What if 100 hours are not enough? You’ll have to splurge: owners of the Performance plan will be able to buy 15 additional hours for $2.99, and Ultimate users will pay $5.99 for this package.

«The new limit will help maintain high quality broadcasts and minimal queueing time for all Performance and Ultimate users», — the developers explain in their blog.

There is also good news for current users: if you join the service before December 31, 2024, and do not interrupt your subscription, you will be able to enjoy unlimited playtime throughout 2025.
