NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti almost catches up with 3070 Ti — Geekbench benchmark leak

A new leak has appeared online shedding light on the performance of the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card. According to Geekbench benchmarking results, the RTX 5060 Ti demonstrates slightly higher performance than the previous generation of Nvidia — and is actually on par with the old RTX 3070 Ti.

The first benchmarks that leaked online cover the OpenCL and Vulkan APIs, and were probably accidentally published by one of the testers. According to this data, the RTX 5060 Ti demonstrates up to a 14% performance increase over its predecessor from the Ada Lovelace line. This is not a spectacular breakthrough, but it is better to wait for full-fledged gaming tests to assess the real possibilities, taking into account the price, availability, and market value.

Last month, the well-known insider Kopite shared the characteristics of the RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 series. Among the entire lineup, only the regular RTX 5060 stands out, which received 25% more shader cores and, given the transition to GDDR7, should provide a performance boost of about 30%. However, expecting more than 8 GB of video memory is — useless.

The RTX 5060 Ti is rumored to have two versions — with 8GB and 16GB of video memory, just like the previous RTX 4060 Ti. Both versions use the same GB206-300-A1 GPU with 4608 CUDA cores (36 SM). The bus bit depth is only 128 bits.

The test bench used a 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor and 32 GB of DDR5-6000 RAM. The benchmark indicates that the GPU reached a peak frequency of 2.64 GHz, although in real versions with the reference design, the frequency is likely to be lower, as has been the case with other cards based on the Blackwell architecture.

Compared to the RTX 4060 Ti, the new Blackwell-based RTX 5060 Ti shows a 14% increase in Vulkan, which brings it closer to the RTX 3070 Ti level. However, one should be careful with conclusions, as performance may be underestimated on early drivers.

In any case, in terms of «raw» computing power — this is all you can count on. Although Blackwell has its own features — such as improved multi-frame generation and smooth animation — many would like to see Nvidia focus on increasing memory and shader count.

For comparison, the number of CUDA cores in the RTX 5060 Ti is only 18.75% of the top-end GB202 (analogous to AD102), while the RTX 4060 Ti had 23.6%. In addition to technical specifications, the Blackwell architecture has already been plagued by a number of problems: from buggy drivers and overheating concerns — to shortages and lack of ROPs. Now all that remains is to find out the last missing detail — the price, which is likely to be announced in the coming days. Rumors,RTX 5060 Ti will be cheaper than RTX 4060 Ti and will cost from $379.
