Online classifieds platform OLX announced about an important update to the platform’s seller rating system. This decision was made after a lengthy analysis of the current rating system, which proved to be insufficiently objective.
«We are closing the old system mainly because it gives more weight to positive ratings than to negative ones. In other words, when a seller receives a positive rating, it affects their overall rating more significantly than when they receive a negative rating», the platform’s website said.
The transition to the new system will take place in stages:
Stage 1 (December 2, 2024):
- Stopping sending requests for appraisals.
- Users who received evaluation requests before this date will still be able to leave them.
- Sellers will be able to receive estimates from existing buyers.
Stage 2 (December 9, 2024):
- Termination of rating formation.
- Closing the ability to respond to existing evaluation requests.
Stage 3 (December 13, 2024):
- Removing all individual grades from the tab «Received grades»
- The seller’s old rating will continue to be visible in their profile and ads.
Stage 4 (December 16, 2024):
- Launch of a new evaluation system.
- Complete replacement of the old system.
- Preservation of the old seller rating until March 17, 2025
- The formation of new ratings has begun.
- Implementation of a rating system through «OLX Delivery».
The platform also says that both sellers and buyers will have the opportunity to dispute any valuation received in the old or new system by contacting support via chat and providing the necessary evidence.
