Polish Trump? Presidential candidate Sławomir Mentzen promises to create a national bitcoin reserve

Polish right-wing politician and presidential candidate Sławomir Mentzen from the far-right party «Confederation» (Konfederacja) has announced his intention to make Poland a world leader in the cryptocurrency sphere.

«If I become the president of Poland, our country will become a cryptocurrency paradise with friendly regulations, low taxes, and support from banks and regulators», — said politician.

He also promised to create a strategic bitcoin reserve in Poland, which one-to-one repeats the initiative of US President-elect Donald Trump.

Sławomir Mentzen is also known for giving a lecture on political marketing before the 2019 European Parliament elections, mocking the «Five Points of the PES», during which he listed unofficial so-called «Five Points «Confederations»: «We don’t want Jews, homosexuals, abortion, taxes, or the European Union». The politician himself has German roots.

In 2017, less than a million Poles owned bitcoin, while now this figure exceeds 7 million.

Mentzen himself has 33.7 BTC, which he has been holding since 2013

The presidential elections in Poland will be held in May 2025.
