A new mod for the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now available on the NexusMods portal. New Game Start – A free play mode attempt significantly changes the concept of the game. In fact, this mod removes the storyline of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and turns the game into a kind of sandbox with mutants.
«Start a new game by choosing the location, equipment, faction, rank, money and other parameters of your choice, achieving a kind of «free play» mode. Entry and training will be skipped, and the main mission will be disabled»,” the project description says.
The author of the mod says that his proposed mode is designed for role-playing the «new game» in a free style. He also warns of some possible conflicts with the game, as the game world is still in its infancy. Therefore, in the sandbox mode, you may encounter closed doors or blocked paths, as well as some simplifications to ensure playability.
Although the main plot is deactivated, depending on the character’s relationship with the various factions, you can complete secondary missions (marked with a blue flag), take repeated tasks from some NPCs, explore the Zone and its many hidden secrets, mysteries and details. Although the main storyline is disabled by default, it can be activated manually.
Additionally, the author states that New Game Start – A free play mode attempt is compatible with other fan mods, such as Modular Hard Mode or Desolation, as well as with A-Life mods, such as Shay’s Living Zone or A-Life Found A Way. The author also warns that his mod is not intended for those who have not played the game before or have not completed the main story.
