Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim cameras: details of 200+50+50 megapixel sensors and compact periscope of new design

Published by Vadym Karpus

Earlier this month, an Ice Universe insider reported that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will have an Ultra camera, but did not reveal any more details. Now, another informant, Sanju Choudhary, claims to know the exact specifications of the sensors that will be used in this device. The Slim model is likely to replace the S25 FE.

The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will have a 200-megapixel sensor — it will be the new ISOCELL HP5. According to the informant, its size will be 1/1.56 inches, although earlier it was reported to be 1/1.3 inches (the same size as the HP2, which is installed in the Galaxy S24 Ultra). This sensor was also mentioned in the context of Galaxy Z Fold7.

The ultra-wide-angle camera and telephoto module will be equipped with a JN5 sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels (1/2.76 inches, 0.64 micron pixels). Some sources claim that the S25 Ultra may use a JN3 (0.7 micron pixels), but this is a minor difference. The difference between the current Ultra and the Galaxy S25 Slim is that the latter will have only one telephoto lens.

According to Choudhary, the telephoto module of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will offer 3.5x optical zoom. The camera is likely to use All Lenses on Prism (ALoP) technology, which Samsung unveiled just yesterday this week. This approach changes the traditional periscope design by placing the lenses in front of the prism rather than behind it.

The main advantage of this layout is compactness. The ALoP modules are shorter and thinner than conventional periscope design, which will be a key feature of Galaxy S25 Slim.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to be released in the second half of 2025. If the device becomes popular, it may influence the design of the S26 series.
