Season 4 trailer «Love, Death and Robots» — Dolphin Jesus, dinosaur gladiators and MrBeast

Netflix has shown the trailer for season 4 of «Love, Death, and Robots» — in which a red cat pushes a robot butler to revolutionize and take over the world.

The fourth season of the series will be released on May 15 on Netflix and will consist of ten new short films. The new season will feature gladiatorial fights on dinosaurs, a magical robot butler, a puppet performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more strange stories. Netflix has already shown the trailer.

The season opens with the episode «Can’t Stop» — was directed by David Fincher. It is an interpretation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance at Slane Castle (Ireland, 2003). The musicians — Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante and Chad Smith — are recreated as string puppets. Fincher is returning to his roots, as he was a music video director before «Fight Club» and other cult films. The animation was done by Blur Studio.

Another episode — «The Other Large Thing» — tells the story of a cat who plots world domination. He is helped by a robot butler who can break the Internet. The robot’s voice is narrated by John Oliver. This is a story by John Scalzi, directed by Patrick Osborne.

As well as other episodes to be shown in the new season:

• MrBeast voiced the character in the series «The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur». There, rich people in Jupiter’s orbit organize gladiatorial fights of mutants riding on war dinosaurs. Written by Stan Litorre, directed by Tim Miller.
• In the series «Golgotha» tells the story of an alien looking for the Messiah. And he finds… Jesus the dolphin. The vicar, played by Rhys Darby, has to figure out what’s going on. This is one of the rare non-animated episodes of the season. Directed by Tim Miller.

• Several episodes bring back familiar faces. For example, Jennifer Yu Nelson is back in the director’s chair — this time with «Spider Rose», the continuation of the cyberpunk story «Swarm» from season 3. A mechanic on a distant asteroid wants to avenge her husband, who was killed by a molder.
• There are more surreal things. У «Close Encounters of the Mini Kind» micro-aliens are staging an apocalypse that looks almost cute.
• And in «400 boys» — a story about gangs in a post-apocalyptic city that live by the Bushido code. When a new force emerges — giant babies — the others are forced to unite. Directed by Robert Valley with voice acting by John Boyega, Ed Skrein, Rahul Kohli and others.

• У «Smart appliances, stupid owners» collects the stories of household appliances — smart toothbrush, shower, toilet — that suffer from their human owners. Scalzi also wrote the script.

• Another episode — «How Zeke got religion» — about a B-17 Liberty Belle mission to France to bomb a church before the Nazis summon an ancient evil. Directed by — Diego Porral, chief animator of «Kill Team Kill».
• And finally, «For He Can Creep». London, 1757. A poet in a mental hospital thinks he has to write a poem that will destroy the world. The only thing stopping him is… his cat. This is an adaptation of the story by Siobhan Carroll, directed by Emily Dean.

The season has once again brought together a large team of directors, writers and voice actors. The producers include Tim Miller, David Fincher, Jennifer Miller and Joshua Donen. Jennifer Y. Nelson is also serving as the season’s supervising director.

It should be noted that the previous season of the series «Love, Death and Robots» was released on Netflix on May 20, 2022. Back then, fans were shown nine episodes, including the continuation of the story of three robots exploring the post-apocalyptic world. And also about a farmer’s struggle with intelligent rats.
