«Snow White» and 7 screenwriters: Disney hid the authors in the credits and ran «silent» ads because they don’t believe in the movie

The «Live» remake of «Snow White» faced scandals from the very first days of production, and they only intensified as the release approached.

From the very beginning, fans hated the film for the choice of Colombian-born actress Rachel Zegler to play the lead role of «Snow White», and later for her controversial statements. In an interview at the end of 2022, the 23-year-old actress said that she had seen the original animated film only once before and did not like it, and later characterized the prince as a «stalker»:

After all, each of the trailers released by Disney collected an incredible number of dislikes (The former, for example, has more than a million of them), and the only positive thing in the comments was the approval of Gal Gadot, who plays the main antagonist.

However, as it turned out, the problems were not only with external perception — the movie cost $300 million, changed seven scriptwriters during the productionand, according to a recent statement by the American Screenwriters Guild, not all of them will be included in the credits (for example, original author Greta Gerwig was also removed). Report The Hollywood Reporter also suggests that Disney chose a «quiet» marketing campaign for the film because of the controversy and because it no longer believes in the film’s success: for example, pre-sales of tickets were opened only two weeks before the release, and they also canceled the usual «high-profile» red carpet premiere and refused to hold a press conference for journalists.

At the same time, all this has not yet affected the box office forecasts for the film, which is expected to open with $50-56 million domestically — on par with the highest-grossing films of the year so far. In Ukraine, «Snow White» will debut on March 20.
