Star Trek: Section 31 – Michelle Yeoh will return in a new role as a super-secret Starfleet spy in January 2025

Michelle Yeoh returns to the Star Trek universe in the new sci-fi movie Star Trek: Section 31. During New York Comic Con, the authors revealed the premiere date of the film – it will take place on January 24, 2025 on Paramount Plus.

Star Trek: Section 31 is to become a part of the Star Trek extended universe of executive producer Alex Kurtzman. A spin-off of Star Trek: Discovery series, the movie tells the story of Philippa Georgiou, who works in the secret Starfleet unit Section 31, tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets. And Philippa Georgiou, with her abilities, occupies a leading position as a super-secret space spy in this organization. The movie will tell us that the former empress will appear before us as a Section 31 operative who «must face the sins of her past».

The development of an additional series with Michelle Yeoh was confirmed in January 2019, but filming was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Another Discovery spin-off series — Star Trek: Strange New Worlds — was a priority. Subsequently, Star Trek: Section 31 was turned into a movie and announced in April 2023.

The film is being produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Filming took place in Toronto, Canada, from January to March 2024. In addition to Michelle Yeoh, the film will also feature actors such as Omari Hardwicke, Casey Roll, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruigrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez and James Hiroyuki Liao. Micah Martino plays the «young Philippa Georgiou».
