George Martin, the creator of «Game of Thrones», praised the fantasy adaptation «In the Lost Lands» —, at least according to the film’s director Paul Anderson.
In an interview with SFX magazine (via Games Radar), the director said that he organized a private screening of the film for Martin in his personal theater in New Mexico.
«I’ve been in the industry for a while and made a bunch of movies. But I have to admit, I’ve never had this kind of excitement,» says Anderson. «I’m sitting there thinking: “Oh, shit, it’s George Martin.”
In the end, the worries proved to be in vain, as Martin praised the director’s work and noted, according to Anderson, that «he captured his voice better than anyone else in other» adaptations.
The film «In the Lost Lands» is based on George R.R. Martin’s story of the same name about the powerful witch Grey Alice, who embarks on a dangerous journey in search of an artifact for the queen. Anderson’s wife Milla Jovovich played Alice in the film, while Dave Batista took on the role of her guide Boyce. The rest of the cast includes Arlie Hover, Amara Okereke, Fraser James, Simon Lef and Deirdre Mullins.
Given the high praise, Anderson hopes that Martin will return to the idea of a sequel. Previously, the writer stated that there is a chance for thisdespite the closed final.
«The movie has a closed ending, I feel, a very satisfying ending, — says Anderson. «But if George wanted to write more stories about Grey Alice, I would be very happy».
«In the Lost Lands» will debut in the Ukrainian box office on March 13.
