BBC revealed the first glimpses of its upcoming series — the historical drama “The King and the Conqueror”, where Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister from “Game of Thrones”) takes on one of the leading roles.
Besides Coster-Waldau, who portrays William, Duke of Normandy, the series also features James Norton as Harold, Earl of Wessex, along with Emily Beecham (Edith Swanneck), Clémence Poésy (Matilda), Eddie Marsan (King Edward), Juliet Stevenson (Lady Emma), Jean-Marc Barr (King Henry), and others.

The historical drama “The King and the Conqueror” tells the story of a clash that defined the future of Britain for a thousand years. Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy — two men destined to meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, compelled by circumstances and personal obsession to wage a war for the crown.

The script for the series was written by Michael Robert Johnson (“Sherlock Holmes”, “Pompeii”), and the first episode was directed by Baltasar Kormákur (“101 Reykjavik”, “Contagion”).
The series will debut next year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
