According to Bloomberg, Lionsgate is considering a sale. An activist investor has bought a stake in the company and is pushing for a sale. While no potential buyers have been found yet, the report indicates that the studio’s management is open to the idea.
This doesn’t come as a surprise, as it’s been well-known that Lionsgate’s endgame is to be sold. The company recently split into two divisions to boost its market capitalization, a move purely made to prep for a sale. However, whether anyone is actually interested in buying the studio remains an open question.
In 2025, Lionsgate is placing its bets on a biographical film about Michael Jackson, set to premiere in October. Additionally, next year will see projects like “Flight Risk”, “Den of Thieves 2”, “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, “Ballerina”, “Saw XI”, “Now You See Me 3”, and “The Housemaid”.
