The second season of Silo received 100% on Rotten Tomatoes — critics are delighted

The world’s leading publications shared their impressions of watching the second season of the series Silo on Apple TV+. The series received 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and 85/100 on Metacritic.

IGN emphasizes the scale and ambition of the new season:

«After the first season showed us what the outside world looks like, Graham Yost [showrunner] wastes no time in immersing us in the next steps of Juliet’s dangerous journey and the consequences of her disappearance. The series remains one of the most exciting projects on Apple TV+. The fine line between disclosure and secrecy is masterfully maintained».

Collider especially emphasizes the acting skills of the main character and new characters:

«Rebecca Ferguson is more than up to the physically demanding role, skillfully conveying Juliet’s fear and determination in her new environment. Her change of scenery becomes particularly fruitful after meeting Steve Zahn’s character Solo, who brings a complex layer of loneliness with a childlike spontaneity. The chemistry between the actors creates a dynamic interplay that contrasts her serious demeanor with his lively approach».

Empire draws attention to the social subtext and political intrigue of the series:

«With politicians and public figures seeking control through massive manipulation of the truth, mob incitement in the name of “order” and class warfare, this is a dystopia not too far removed from our reality. Tim Robbins as Mayor Bernard gives a terrific performance, balancing cold pragmatism with the character’s complex motivations».

Visual component and world-building

Critics unanimously praise the visual component of the series. Collider writes:

«Complementing the narrative, the striking visuals both inside and outside the bunker create an important element of the eerie and dystopian atmosphere. Through Juliette’s eyes, we gain a personal and intimate understanding of the claustrophobic spaces, which often reflect the emotional state of the bunker’s inhabitants and their mental well-being».

Empire adds:

«The new locations, especially the abandoned Bunker 17, are striking in their detail and atmosphere. The contrast between the two bunkers enriches this season’s story, especially as we learn more about Solo, plunging viewers even deeper into the complex web that initially seems like a safe haven».

Plot and character development

IGN emphasizes that the series skillfully develops both the main storyline and secondary characters:

«As Juliet explores the mysteries of the outside world, tensions within the bunker rise. The inhabitants of the Lower Levels, long condemned to silence, begin to rebel after rumors of Juliet’s disobedience, led by Shirley. The series skillfully combines political intrigue and personal stakes».

Critics pay special attention to new storylines:

«This season offers a deeper dive into the mythology of bunkers, an interesting look at the history of another community, and flashbacks. All of this creates an atmospheric, tense journey underground», — Empire notes.

Despite the fact that the second season often raises more questions than it answers, critics agree that it remains an engaging series that keeps viewers on their toes. The second season of Silo starts on Apple TV+ on November 15, with new episodes every Friday.
