Toyota has prepared for release a new version of the Supra A90 Final Edition sports car. It offers more power for those who love speed and thrills. But on the other hand, the A90 Final Edition marks the beginning of the end of the current generation Supra.
The Toyota Supra A90 Final Edition is a special track version designed for Europe and Japan. Its production will be limited to just 300 units. The car has received a number of updates compared to the base 6-cylinder model on which this «swan song» is based.
The final Supra retains the same 3-liter turbocharged B58 engine, but now it offers a significant increase in power — from 382 hp to 429 hp. Torque has also increased: from 500 N-m to 570 N-m. Thus, compared to the US version, the power has increased by 47 hp and 70 N-m, and compared to the European Supra, the increase is even greater — 94 hp. This is because Toyota was forced to reduce engine power in Europe due to stricter environmental regulations, so the European version had only 335 hp.
The Toyota Supra A90 Final Edition features larger 19-inch Brembo brakes at the front, adjustable KW suspension, and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust that provides a more aggressive engine sound. To make the model even more attractive, Toyota has equipped it with lightweight forged wheels with the TGR logo: 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. These wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires in 265/35ZR19 front and 285/30ZR20 rear, which are 10% wider than standard.
This version will be offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. In addition, the new aerodynamic package includes a front spoiler and a rear wing on swan-neck mounts, both made of carbon fiber. Other elements include front canards, a center flap and a carbon fiber hood. The latter has an internal ventilation duct that can be removed to improve cooling during track races.
This version of the Supra also features an aluminum rear subframe mount borrowed from the GT4 racing car, as well as reinforced front struts. Toyota engineers modified the electric power steering and changed the camber angle to improve traction. Inside, the car features Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats, red seat belts and Alcantara upholstery.
Separately, Toyota announced an updated version of the Supra 3.0 for the global market, including Europe, where it will be called Lightweight Evo. Orders for this model, as well as the A90 Final Edition, will begin in January 2025.
Toyota notes that the A90 Final Edition will be the last model of the current generation, hinting at plans to release a successor. The company has already made it clear that it is working on the sixth generation.
