«Konotop Witch» — revenge movie. The story takes place during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The film will premiere on August 22, the day before Ukraine’s Independence Day.
«An ancient witch from Konotop, having fallen in love with an ordinary boy, has long since renounced her witchy powers. After Russian soldiers capture the town and brutally murder her beloved, she decides to take revenge, regains her powers and unleashes horrific and bloody punishments on the heads and other parts of the bodies of her fiancé’s killers».
The film stars Tatyana Malkova (My Favorite Strashko, Taste of Freedom) in the title role, and also features Taras Tsymbalyuk (Black Raven, Dr. Baby Dust. New Life, The First Days) and Olena Khokhlatkina (I Work at the Cemetery, Pamphire). The film will also star Viktor Zhdanov (I Work at the Cemetery, The First Days) and military actors Volodymyr Rashchuk and Oleksandr Pecherytsia.
The Russian occupiers in the film were played by Pavlo Vyshniakov, Yaroslav Shakhtorin, Ivan Sharan, Artem Sagitov, Vladyslav Verbytskyi, Serhiy Sosnovtsev, Rostyslav Fomenko, Serhiy Anipchenko, Mykyta Slobodeniuk, Mykola Holovchak.
The script and idea was written by Yaroslav Voitseshek, directed by Andriy Kolesnyk, and this is his first feature film. The film is produced by Iryna Kostiuk («Mavka. The Forest Song», «Crazy Wedding». The music composed by Oleksandr Chornyi adds additional suspense to the film.
