The eponymous unit from Kharkiv now has caps from Steven Knight, the screenwriter of the series “Peaky Blinders,” signed by the lead actor Cillian Murphy.
This was reported by the Kharkiv publication “Objective” by volunteer Artem Fisun, who supports the “Peaky Blinders” unit. He shared the story of this unusual gift. During the Russian occupiers’ advance on Vovchansk, the military participated in the defense. At that time, BBC journalists were filming a story about the unit, named after the British series. Then, the Ukrainian “Peaky Blinders” signed their own caps for Cillian Murphy, who plays Thomas Shelby. The actor received the gift: he kept one of the caps for himself, and signed and sent the other back in return.
After that, the scriptwriter Steven Knight contacted the Kharkiv “Peaky Blinders.” He gifted the military three dozen caps from Garrison Tailors, the official costume designer of the series. The unit commander says that the gift was very unexpected and pleasant, it boosted the soldiers’ spirits. They did a photo shoot with the gift in Kharkiv, which was published on Facebook by one of the unit members, Yaroslav Chyzhenko.
The friendly relations of Ukraine’s defenders with the series participants will probably not be liked by the Russians, who also watched it. It would be a nice addition to the hysteria ongoing in Russia regarding the success of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
