Ukrainians are buying less and less cars with internal combustion engines, and the demand for electric cars and hybrids is growing

Ukrainians are gradually losing interest in cars with traditional internal combustion engines. While in October 2023, ICE cars accounted for 66% of the new car market, this figure dropped to 62% in the year to October 2024.

Among all new cars, models with gasoline internal combustion engines are still the most popular. 36.1% of new cars purchased by Ukrainians in October 2024 belonged to this category. However, their popularity is rapidly declining – a year ago, this figure was 45.5%.

The segment of cars with diesel engines was the second largest at 26.3%. In October 2023, 20.4% of new cars sold had diesel internal combustion engines.

At the same time, the share of hybrid cars increased from 18.6% to 20.7%. Electric cars now account for 16.6%, up from 14.8% in October last year. Cars with LPG are almost not in demand. Like last year, they account for less than 1% of total sales.

The most popular models are in different segments:

  • Gasoline cars – RENAULT Duster;
  • Diesel cars – RENAULT Duster;
  • Hybrid cars – Toyota RAV-4;
  • Electric vehicles – HONDA M-NV;
  • The car with LPG is a HYUNDAI Tucson.
