«Ukrzaliznytsia» resumed the operation of online services — 89 hours after the cyberattack

«Ukrzaliznytsia» resumed the operation of online ticketing services in a backup format — after a large-scale cyberattack that occurred on March 23.

Initially, only the «basic» options — sale and refund of tickets for all destinations with a depth of 20 days will be available. The system is currently experiencing an increased load as thousands of users make requests simultaneously.

Currently, it is not possible to view ticket archives in the app — however, they are still valid, and PDF duplicates can be found at the email address specified in the passenger’s account. You can also use screenshots of tickets from the app to board, or show the conductor a receipt from the bank.

For the restoration of services, which includes involved the SBU Cyber Department it took 89 hours. The company emphasizes that no sensitive information was leaked «any sensitive information». No details have been provided on who carried out the cyberattack and how.

«Our train stations and ticket offices continue to operate in an enhanced mode across the country as a safety net, and trains — as all days before — are running on schedule», — the report adds.
