«We will write it off as a typo». Tax law in Ukraine will come into force on December 1 despite «accidental» early publication

Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a historic Law on Tax Increase in Ukraine, and within a few hours, it was published by “Voice of Ukraine,” causing panic among accountants across the country.

The actual publication date indicated that the law would come into effect on November 29: meaning Ukrainians had to pay 1.5% military levy for the 28 days of the month, and the last two days — 5%. Fortunately, this unfortunate mistake was corrected in the morning.

“Sleepless night and here is the result – the resource law will come into effect on December 1, 2024,” – wrote MP Danylo Hetmantsev. “Common sense prevailed. We will consider this a printer’s error.”

What are the tax changes anticipated?

Let us remind that the Verkhovna Rada voted unanimously for the law on tax increases at the beginning of October — nearly one and a half months before it was signed by the President.

MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted that each day without the law cost the budget 270+ million UAH (a total of 12 billion UAH over 44 days).
