The science fiction writer Terry Pratchett, author of the «Discworld» series, was not only a writer but also an avid gamer — he brought his ideas to The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
The author, whose books have sold millions of copies, was interested in Oblivion mods and even participated in their development together with fans. When TES 4 came out, he was excited by the idea of adding to the game world. One of his favorites is the Vilja mod, created by user Emma. Vilja was a companion that had conversations with the player and even remembered the gifts that were given to her.
In 2010, Pratchett wrote a letter to Emma praising her work. He was delighted with how many details Willa had thought out. Of course, Emma took him for a fraud, but she decided to take a chance and check with him to see if she was lucky and he was a real writer. The conversation resulted in their collaboration.

One of his first ideas was to create a «goblin peace amulet» that would allow you to pass by goblins without attacking them. This idea found a place in the novel «Snuff», where goblins play an important role. Later, Pratchett took up dialogues for Willa. He especially worked on her reactions to the Thieves’ Guild, and most of these lines are his own.
But at that time, Terry was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. He began to get confused in the caves, which spoiled his enjoyment of the game. To help him out, Emma and modder CDCooley allowed Willa to lead the player out of the mazes and choose the route herself, which became a hit among fans.
Another of Pratchett’s ideas was a mod with pack donkeys so that the animal could be bought in Chorrol’s stables. His favorite was Chico the donkey, who would sneak carrots and often get involved in adventures with the imperial guard.
Terry Pratchett passed away ten years ago, but his fellow modders remember him fondly. Thanks to his imagination, we got not only «Discworld», but also Oblivion mods that fans still put their hearts into.

Meanwhile, a lot of rumors are circulating around The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, including a remake. An insider said that the relaunch Oblivion may be presented in 2025. But the leaks didn’t stop there; in April, several sources claimed that the game would be announced «in the coming weeks» and released «in the coming months».
At the same time, TES 6 remains shrouded in fog. Recently, instead of a trailer or some hint of details The developers offered players to become a non-game character, but for money. At least in 2023, Bethesda announced that the long-awaited RPG was released on full production stage. But we won’t hear about the game anytime soon, despite rumors about the release in 2026. In general, the next part may become the last in the series.
