Amazon has launched X-Ray Recaps in beta, which will use generative artificial intelligence to create «text summaries» for Prime Video series (as well as individual episodes or parts of them) — and the company promises that the update has certain «fences» that will help avoid spoilers in the descriptions.
The new feature is actually an update to the already active X-Ray service on Prime Video, which offers to view cast details when you pause a show.
To try out Recaps, go to the show information page and select one of the available options:
- Get a summary of the episode you watched
- Get a summary of the whole season
- Get a summary of the previous season
Currently, X-Ray Recaps is available in beta — only to Fire TV customers in the United States, but Amazon promises to expand the feature to other devices and later to other countries at the end of the year.
The company says that X-Ray Recaps uses «a combination of custom AI models» created with Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker and analyzes videos, subtitles, and dialogues to describe key events, conversations, and other information.
