Xiaomi confirms release of AI laptop – focus on battery life, power, and HyperOS

Xiaomi is serious about developing laptops with artificial intelligence. During a recent online presentation dedicated to the upcoming flagship Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the company’s president Lu Weibing confirmed that Xiaomi is preparing to release its first AI laptop.

Although the official name of the device remains a secret for now, he revealed one of its key features: a 99 Wh battery. Its capacity is chosen not to exceed the restrictions set by airlines for the transportation of electronics in hand luggage.

This news comes just a few days after Ma Zhiyu, product marketing director of Xiaomi Communications Technology, shared an image of a new Redmi laptop packaging. It is likely to be the Redmi Book Pro 2025, which is rumored to be powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor. Although the exact model has not yet been revealed.

The laptop is expected to be deeply integrated with Xiaomi’s HyperOS Smart Connect, which will provide seamless interaction with the company’s smartphones, tablets, and smart devices. The device will also come with the Xiao AI virtual assistant and Xiaomi PC Manager, which hints at an AI-optimized user experience focused on productivity and automation.

In addition to AI features, the leaked specs point to high performance in video games. Ma Zhiyu shared the results of testing Redmi Book Pro 2025 in Black Myth: Wukong. The laptop showed an average FPS of 67 frames per second. The maximum value reached 75 fps, and the minimum did not fall below 59 fps. Such indicators indicate an efficient cooling system and a productive GPU capable of handling demanding gaming loads.

Xiaomi’s laptop strategy has always been inconsistent, especially when compared to more experienced competitors. However, Ma Zhiyu clarified that there will be an update to Xiaomi’s laptop line, but not in the near future. This means that the company is currently focused on the Redmi line.

Last month Xiaomi unveiled Redmi Book 14 and 16 (2025 version). They have Intel Core 5-220H processors, up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD.
