Amazon is flooded with fake AMD Ryzen 9800X3D — for $200 during the shortage

With the advent of Black Friday this Friday, unscrupulous sellers are taking advantage of the AMD Ryzen 9800X3D shortage and offering counterfeits.

In a search for “9800X3D” on Amazon, at least four results priced at $199.89 turned out to be counterfeits. The specifications of the fake products seem similar to the original ones, but they suggest visiting the HHNDVZ brand instead.

Most, if not all, fake offers have already been removed. The most obvious sign of a counterfeit is the price – the processor AMD released costs $479, certainly not $200 during a shortage. Taking into account the shortage, the current price of AMD Ryzen 9800X3D in some places reaches $1500.

Not only on Amazon, but anywhere else, the price, source, and product characteristics can indicate a fake. It’s also worth paying attention to reviews and using services of only verified sellers. Any “free cheese” indicates that something is wrong with the product.

During a shortage, buying an AMD Ryzen 9800X3D is not the best idea. The processor itself is not cheap, and huge markups make the purchase impractical. And of course, during a shortage, honest sellers do not offer discounts. At this time, it’s better to pay attention to other AMD or Intel chips – they may actually receive discounts, making them attractive.
