AMD announces Ryzen 9 9955HX3D with 3D V-Cache for laptops and other Fire Range processors

AMD officially announced the HX series processors for gaming laptops. The Ryzen 9000HX chips, codenamed Fire Range, feature up to 16 cores on the Zen 5 architecture.

This is reported by Videocardz with reference to AMD. According to official data from AMD, the company’s public presentation at CES 2025 is set to start at 21:00 Kyiv time.

The flagship processor AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D has 16 cores and a total cache of 144 MB. This chip is for top-tier gaming laptops, while more affordable devices will receive processors without X3D in the name and additional cache. The Ryzen 9 9955HX processor has the same number of cores and frequency, and the 12-core Ryzen 9 9855HX processor has a maximum clock speed of 5.2 GHz and 76 MB of cache. Here is the Fire Range lineup:

  • Ryzen 9 9955HX3D — 16 cores, 144 MB cache, up to 5.4 GHz
  • Ryzen 9 9955HX — 16 cores, 80 MB cache, up to 5.4 GHz
  • Ryzen 9 9855HX — 12 cores, 76 MB cache, up to 5.4 GHz

AMD confirms that the launch of the Ryzen 9000HX series will occur in the first half of 2025, although the exact date and other details are yet to be named.
