AMD prepares Ryzen 9 9955HX3D mobile processor

Heads up, folks! Looks like AMD is gearing up to announce a new laptop processor, the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, packed with extra cache.

The first digit ‘9’ in the processor’s name indicates the Zen 5 architecture. It’s going to be part of the Fire Range and is expected to use the same I/O die as the Raphael desktop series. This means that while the processor cores will be updated, the integrated graphics will stay the same.

“Wu Haizhun, head of Shenzhou Group, mentioned during a new product release meeting that the performance improvement of Arrow Lake HX 255HX/275HX was minimal. He also confirmed that AMD’s mobile lineup will receive the 9955HX3D products, but it’s still unknown whether Shenzhou will release corresponding devices,” an insider reported.

The initial announcement of AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D happened during Hasse’s product presentation for the media. The chairman also confirmed that AMD is planning such a processor but is still evaluating its implementation.

It has already been confirmed that the AMD Ryzen 9000HX series will be officially announced at CES 2025. Although the full list of models is not yet available, it’s safe to assume that at least two processors will be released: a 16-core X3D chip and a non-X3D model.
