Supporting mods for cloud games is not the easiest task, but Larian and NVIDIA GeForce Now, together with mod.io, have done it for Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Mods are available for users of Ultimate and Performance tariff plans. The service explains how it all works in its blog and on a separate information page. Larian also has a video in which the studio explains how mods work on consoles (similarly in the cloud).
“Downloading mods is easy — select the needed mods from the Baldur’s Gate 3 mod menu in the game, and they will remain active throughout sessions. Or subscribe to modifications through mod.io to automatically download them when launching the game from GeForce NOW,” — stated in the cloud service blog.

- GeForce NOW will frequently check if our mods are updated.
- To enable modifications, launch the game on GeForce NOW and select the needed mods from the in-game mod menu, and they will remain enabled throughout sessions. Or you subscribe to modifications through mod.io to automatically download them when launching the game from GeForce NOW.
- Loading the mod list in the game manager right after starting the game might take a few minutes, depending on the number of installed mods. You will see a spinner, and then it will load.
- NOTE: such behavior is similar to standard gaming PCs.
- GeForce NOW supports the use of mods in multiplayer mode. If you encounter a mod mismatch error when inviting in the lobby, find it in the multiplayer lobby browser and join the game. There you will be able to update mods on GeForce NOW.
- NOTE. GeForce NOW supports curated Xbox mods, if you see any mods marked as third-party, ask players to remove them.
- If you are having issues with downloading a mod or it causes compatibility issues on GeForce NOW, contact NVIDIA customer support to remove saves from your account.
- NOTE. Ensure that when you restart the game, you decided to download saved games from Steam Cloud.
- If you cancel a mod subscription, make sure you exit the game using the in-game menu to exit the game.
- NOTE. We do not recommend exiting using operating system keyboard shortcuts.
Also, as of yesterday on NVIDIA GeForce Now, seven new games are available: Jötunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, Among Us, Amnesia: Collection, Lawn Mowing Simulator, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of Mineral Town, Townscaper.
