Cybertruck owner made repairs for $25 that Tesla charges $3000 for

Dents on a car body inevitably happen to everyone. Auto service centers can charge a lot for repairs, especially in the case of the Tesla Cybertruck. One owner saved a bundle by going DIY.

Car owners know many ways to fix minor damages, but not everyone wants to bother with it. When YouTuber Detroit Tesla rocked up at a Tesla service center with slightly bent Cybertruck doors, they quoted him a repair cost of $3000. Even in the US, that’s a chunk of change, so the owner decided to fix the issue himself and only spent $25.

Why did Tesla charge so much? The repair technicians offered an obviously excessive solution — to remove and replace the door panels. This seems totally unjustified considering that the doors were barely damaged and didn’t even have paint that would be harmed by mechanical actions. Likely, the technicians’ goal was more about making money than making repairs.

The solution was more than trivial — a suction cup. Initially, the owner tried it on a surface wet from rain, which predictably didn’t work out. But he succeeded after warming up the panel indoors.

In the video, the Cybertruck owner claims the expenses were $25. A suction cup in the US can be bought for about $6, and a heat gun costs $20. As you can see, the manipulation takes just a few minutes, unless, of course, you try to straighten out wet cold doors. But Tesla’s solution saves you from this hard work (and from your money).
