Geralt may not appear in The Witcher 4 — Doug Cockle gets scolded by CD Projekt for unfounded rumors

Published by Andrii Rusanov

Despite the seemingly known fact that Geralt will be in The Witcher 4, it might not turn out that way. Geralt’s voice actor, Doug Cockle, who started this rumor, seems to be taking his words back.

Now, the actor told Geektown that he accidentally shared unverified rumors because he thought someone at CDPR had mentioned it. The studio told him to keep his mouth shut and apparently denied the leak. As for the plot of The Witcher 4, practically nothing is known at the moment.

“I really went online and said something about it, then got a slap from CD Projekt because… I don’t know how true it is. I spread rumors—I thought someone from CD Projekt said that Geralt would be in Witcher 4, but he wouldn’t be the main character, and I actually don’t know if that’s true now because they said, ‘We haven’t released anything, so don’t say anything! … I don’t know what it will be. I have ideas—I thought I had an idea what it was—then they told me, ‘We haven’t told anyone about this, so where did you get this information, we don’t know’.”

So where did Doug Cockle get such information? In his own words—almost from nowhere. Maybe it’s about the quality of a very early conversation.

“…From a very, very old statement, which someone who no longer works at CD Projekt actually made about three years ago.”

Either way, CD Projekt RED is clearly not pleased with the rumors. At least, they are not ready to commit now that Geralt will indeed be in the game. So, he might not appear in The Witcher 4 at all, or on the contrary—once again become the main character, as it is unclear which part of the statement CDPR is denying. Considering the ending of “Blood and Wine” and Geralt’s life path, which Andrzej Sapkowski effectively ended at the conclusion of the saga, continuing his story seems highly improbable.
