Google is testing a new feature in the Chrome browser that will automatically change users’ passwords if it detects that they have been compromised.
The feature was first spotted in a test build on the Chrome Canary channel user X Leopeva64 — in the new In the section «Artificial intelligence innovations» there is a settings menu «Automatic password change» that informs you:
When Chrome detects that one of your passwords has been compromised, it will suggest a replacement password and add it to Google Password Manager.
The main nuance of the tool will be that new passwords will be created by artificial intelligence, and it is not known whether the technology will offer something like QWERTYYou can activate the function in the «Experimental AI functions» section (chrome://settings/ai) in Chrome settings.
Currently, Chrome simply warns users if their password has been compromised and asks if they want to change it. Auto-replacement feature — another in the list of AI tools that Google has added to the browser in recent years (already working, in particular, automatic grouping of tabs and smart search in browsing history). Earlier, the browser also added tools for controlling «gluttonous tabs» and increasing productivity.
