Hellblade 2 received 11 nominations at the BAFTA Games Awards, but no chance of winning the main prize

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 became the absolute leader in the number of nominations at the BAFTA Games Awards this year.

The game received 11 nominations in various categories, beating out Astro Bot and Still Wakes the Deep. Despite the record number of nominations, the action movie did not get into the main category – «Best Game». The decision comes as a surprise to fans, as Hellblade 2 was recognized for its technical achievements, sound, and acting.

Although Hellblade 2 is not in the running for the top title, the game dominates many other categories. In particular, it is up for awards for Animation, Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, British Game, Game Beyond Entertainment, Music, Narrative and Technical Achievement.

This time to fight for the title of Best Game there will be such titles as: Black Myth: Wukong, Helldivers 2, Thank Goodness You’re Here!, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Astro Bot and Balatro.

And here the British Game category has become a battleground for indie developers. A Highland Song, Paper Trail, Thank Goodness You’re Here!, Still Wakes the Deep, Lego Horizon Adventures, and Hellblade 2 are represented here.

Also this year, among the nominees for Artistic, 11 people are nominated for the awards for the first time. Among them is Luke Roberts for his role of James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2 Remake and Humberly Gonzalez for her role as Kai Wess in Star Wars Outlaws.

Overall, we received the most nominations:

  • Astro Bot and Still Wakes the Deep — 8 each
  • Thank Goodness You’re Here! — 7
  • Black Myth: Wukong — 6
  • Helldivers 2 — 5
  • Animal Well, Balatro, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Lego Horizon Adventures — 4 each

The BAFTA Games Awards ceremony will take place in London on April 8. The live broadcast will be available on YouTube and Twitch.
