The long-awaited sequel to the popular puzzle game Monument Valley 3 has been released. But not all users will be able to launch the game. The new part of the spatial puzzle series is now available on Android and iOS exclusively within Netflix Games. This means that you can play for free, without ads or microtransactions, but only if you have a subscription to the streaming service.

Like the previous two games, Monument Valley 3 — is an aesthetic, meditative game about perspective. The levels are inspired by the works of artists such as M.C. Escher, where paths ignore the laws of physics. A new feature is a sailboat that allows you to move freely between sections, but the puzzles are still the focus. So is the atmosphere: the game has great background music, and its visual style is as beautiful as ever.
Monument Valley 3 on Netflix Games will also receive content updates every season. In an interview, Ustwo Games’ chief designer Emily Brown called them «Monument Valley snacks» — small additions to the standalone game. This is a slight hint at the idea of the game as a service, although in practice it is not much different from the studio’s approach in the past when it released DLC for previous Monument Valley installments.
