Google announced signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Wiz Inc. The Israeli cloud cybersecurity company will strengthen Google Cloud. This is the largest deal in Google’s history.
The deal is still subject to regulatory approval. After its completion, Wiz will join Google Cloud. Google sees the acquisition as an investment in cloud security and multicloud technology.

Organizations of all sizes, from startups and large enterprises to governments and public sector organizations, can use Wiz to protect everything they build and run in the cloud», — Alphabet said.
According to the official news, the combination of Google’s artificial intelligence expertise and leading security innovations with Wiz technologies will — help make their solutions even better and more scalable». Google expects to improve security design, management, and automation, create an end-to-end security platform «for customers of all types and sizes in the AI era», scale cybersecurity teams, reduce customer costs for security implementations, prevent AI-enabled threats, and enable multi-cloud.
The first reports of the deal appeared last summer, but Wiz later rejected Alphabet’s $23 billion offer. Wiz was considering an IPO, but seems to have chosen a different path. Previously, Google’s biggest deal was purchase of Motorola for $12.5 billionin 2012. Subsequently, the assets of the phone manufacturer were sold to Lenovo for $2.9 billion.
