During today’s press conference, Andrzej Sapkowski announced when his new book from the cycle «Witch».
The book will be released in Poland on December 1, 2024. There is no information about release dates in other countries. The title of the new book is also unknown. The writer says he would not keep the title a secret, but he cannot say.
«Wiedźminlandia: You said that you read a lot. I wonder if you often return to your works or if, as a writer, once you’ve written them, you don’t want to return to them? And in this context, I would like to ask, when you were writing the new book about «Witcher», did you feel the need to go back to the saga, to read it again, or did you use notes more? And I would like to ask if it is possible to at least find out the title of the last book? Because a year ago you said that you were afraid that your idea would be stolen. When it’s over, maybe they won’t have time.
Andrzej Sapkowski: Now it’s happening fast. I’ll start with the end. For now, it’s still a secret. As for me, I wouldn’t keep it a secret, but my publisher absolutely does not want me to talk about it anymore for marketing reasons, so what I can and cannot say is embargoed. This is approximately the date of the book’s release – the beginning of December. The first days of December, as far as I know. The book [then] should be in bookstores. But that’s the only information I can provide, because the publisher has influence over me».
Website Redanian Intelligence clarifies that it is December 1. Nowa Fantastyka magazine will publish the first chapter of the book in its upcoming issue on November 22. It was in this magazine that Sapkowski published his first story about «Witcher».
The international launch of the book is expected in early 2025. This largely depends on how far the translators have progressed by this time and whether they have even received the text for the official release. Earlier, Sapkovsky confirmed that the book will be separate from the main saga and talk about Geralt.
