Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for the Minecraft — movie adaptation, and it seems to be not as bad as the last time (at least there are only 20 thousand dislikes).
As we noted earlier, the film actually duplicates the plot of «Jumanji» —: a couple of adults and a couple of teenagers find themselves in a game world where they have to escape from evil creatures while trying to protect the good ones.
«Four misfits struggle to overcome the ordinary problems of life until they are pulled through a mysterious portal into a new world that they will have to explore and protect from evil creatures — if they want to return home. Together with Steve, the protagonists embark on a magical quest where they must be brave and awaken their best abilities to help them survive in real life», — from the official synopsis.
Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers and Sebastian Eugene Hansen take the lead roles, and are joined by Jack Black, who plays myself Steve, a local resident (his story is given a little more attention in the new trailer). The film is directed by Jared Hess and also features Jennifer Coolidge in the cast.
As a reminder the first trailer was sharply criticized online — the number of dislikes on the video has now exceeded 1.8 million (by the way, it broke the record of «Snow White») compared to only 700+ thousand likes. The second trailer is still doing well, and there are a lot of positive comments in the comments section — though there are those who suspect the studio of using neural networks to create the video.
The filmmakers themselves noted that they expected such a reaction to the first trailer, but added that the test screenings showed a radically different result:
«People say: “It’s nothing like the trailer. This movie is great,”», — said Minecraft’s Senior Director of Original Content Torfi Frans Olafsson in a commentary IGN.
The Minecraft movie will debut in Ukrainian cinemas on April 3.
