ChatGPT Pro subscribers have started receiving offers to try out GPT-4.5 — a new and not yet officially presented OpenAI artificial intelligence model.
The following are shared on social media screenshots notifications received in the ChatGPT mobile application (although most of them are currently hidden, so it may have been a bug that OpenAI is urgently trying to hide):
«Try out GPT-4.5 in a test preview. Pro users currently have access to the new LLM».
Two conclusions can be drawn from the report: first, the public launch of GPT-4.5 is likely to take place tomorrow or the day after, and second, it is unlikely that the model will be available to Pro and Plus users at the same time, as previously expected.
In early February, OpenAI chairman Sam Altman stated that GPT-4.5 would be available in «the coming weeks», while GPT-5 is scheduled for release in «the following months». At the same time, the latter will be available «without restrictions» in the free version of ChatGPT (the phrase «without restriction» in this case refers to the query limit, while access to «higher levels of the» model will be available only to paid users).
A few days earlier The Verge wrote that Microsoft engineers are actively preparing server capacities for the upcoming OpenAI GPT-4.5 and GPT-5 models, which confirms rumors about the launch of the former this week.
GPT-4.5 is the model thatwas hiding under the name Orion(previously thought to be o1/o3) and it will be the last one to not have a «chain of reasoning». With the release of GPT-5, all OpenAI models will become «one», andartificial intelligence with the ability to reasonwill simply become another common feature of the company’s products.
