When you buy an overpriced computer with NVIDIA RTX 5090 and other Blackwell, don’t rush to blame the assemblers. They also receive expensive graphics cards from suppliers.
In addition to retail customers, the problem of overpriced graphics cards also applies to system integrators. The CEO of PowerGPU spoke about this in a video. In response to the accusations, Jesé Martínez said that the company also fell victim to speculation on the part of distributors.
«I want people to know that at PowerGPU, when we give you these prices on these 5090s, it’s not «scalping» on our part, it’s not us pushing the prices of these graphics cards to this point and making these crazy margins. It’s because we’re getting these graphics cards at crazy» prices,” Martinez explains.
The recent statement NVIDIA’s announcement that it has shipped 2 times as many Blackwell GPUs as Ada Lovelace five weeks after the launch contrasts with the shortage of graphics cards and their crazy prices The situation with AMD Radeon RX 9070 better, but their release did not contribute to the overall price decline.

«I feel terrible. I’m just disgusted. Literally my entire team, we all feel disgusted when we see these prices»,” Martinez says, adding that he himself has an RTX 5080 card instead of an RTX 5090, which is much easier to get.
PC vendors are worried about their reputations amid the situation with graphics cards, as customers place the blame on them. PowerGPU had to wait up to three weeks for the first batch of RTX 5090s, and the shortage hasn’t abated since. Currently, the company has about 70 RX 9070 series graphics cards vs a single RTX 5090.
