PlayStation Network is back up and running — Sony compensated only Plus subscribers for the outage

Drop everything, sit down to play — PlayStation works in full after almost a day offline. As compensation, Sony «gives» +5 days of Plus service.

According to the official page status, all PlayStation services work normally.

PlayStation Network знов працює — Sony компенсувала збій лише підписникам Plus

The official X account reports:

«Network services have fully recovered from the outage. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank the community for their patience. All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional 5 days of service».

However, users are not exactly happy. The comments radiate a spectrum of emotions from mild sadness to despair, recorded using a capslock. Console owners mostly consider such cases unacceptable, and compensation insufficient — only PS Plus subscribers.

«I think I’ll skip my five days of service and subscribe to XBOX for a month. I hate XBOX. But they’ve never had outages like this. 2011. And 2025. Get a grip, Sony. XBOX will come for your lunch. Live service doesn’t work when you don’t have» service.

«What about us non-Playstation Plus members, do we get anything at all?»

«What is 5 days of service?»

«I don’t understand. What service? I pay monthly. So when I finally decide to stop paying, I get five extra days?»

«Xbox would give you £10 if their servers were down» as long as yours.

«Sony, I’m already saving up for a computer».

«I just bought the Platinum Battle Pass for $40 and almost missed the EXP Weekend in BlackOPS6. My day off yesterday was a chance to raise LVL before it ended. Now I may not be able to finish the battle pass due to the outage and will not have $40».

This case makes us think about a more global problem — the reliability of online services and libraries. A day-long shutdown is not the worst case scenario. Users can potentially lose data as a result of failures on remote servers. Or the service owner may decide that they will no longer provide any services or just close the serviceand users will lose certain features and files.
